Roof working remains a high risk operation. In fact in 2019 the HSE stated that falling from heights represented 25% of UK construction industry fatalities.

Surveybase Limited appreciate the dangers of roof surveying and ensure that surveyors are trained and certified to work at heights. However even with the best precautions in place there are occasions where the risk of accident cannot be managed responsibly; this is where UAV Drones can help.

Whilst there are restrictions on how and where to deploy drones the benefits are clear;

  • Reduced risk of accident.
  • Reduced cost of safety management.
  • Enhanced survey data / photogrammetry.
  • High definition over flight video.

Surveybase Limited have completed over 50 UAV Drone surveys of the roof landscape. The UAV Drone delivers high definition photogrammetry that is exported to a point cloud file ready for 2D AutoCAD processing and 3D Revit Modelling. We find UAV Drones especially useful in the survey of complex roof geometry and heritage sites. With UAV Drones we can collect comprehensive survey data greater than with our terrestrial Faro Laser Scanners. An added benefit to Clients is the over flight video that provides close up imaging for maintenance inspection.

The cost of UAV Drones has fallen as rapidly as their capability has increased. Today they are used in a wide range of survey deployment including Land & Topographical Surveys, Measured Building Surveys, External & Internal Maintenance Inspection and Infrastructure Projects such as highway, rail and major utilities plants.
