Surveying large Water Treatment Centres (WTC) is perhaps not for the faint hearted or those weak of stomach. However, it’s become a unique strength of Surveybase Limited.

This case study is the latest in a line of similar projects. Some encompassing the full treatment site, others with focus on specific functions. Typically, we are appointed by engineering consultants who work with regional water authorities under termed framework contracts.

This expertise began developing in 2012 when we delivered a 3D Model of the Berry Hill water treatment centre near Bournemouth. The model was built entirely in 3D AutoCAD with export to SolidWorks. Today we model using Autodesk Revit (BIM) software and have built a library of commonly used engineering components. Revit’s efficient pipe modelling tools combined with our inhouse expertise delivers a genuine time and cost saving, a tangible market advantage that’s fuelling increased enquiries.

The renders of the Tewkesbury project speak for themselves. The model was generated from a terrestrial 3D Laser Scan of the site with survey control provided by a traditional Topographical survey.  Whilst Drone surveys are now common in the industry, we do not rely on them, the data is not accurate enough for engineering applications.
