Survey Base are pleased to announce the appointment to provide a Topographical and Measured Building Survey of the grounds, Music and Science facilities at the Cathedral School, Llandaff, Cardiff. The survey will be completed using the latest Trimble GPS Totals Stations & Faro Focus Laser Scanning instruments. The data will be processed as a Point Cloud before being modelled in Revit to BIM L300 level of detailing. This is the latest in a succession of Education sector projects being delivered as an intelligent Building Information Model. We expect continued interest in this advanced 3D surveying service as the Governments BIM L2 mandate for Public sector development finally takes hold.
The school itself has a rich history, supposedly spanning more than 1000 years in Llandaff. Roald Dahl is named among many famous alumni and its clear from historical evidence that his creativity was already showing promise at an early age. His “Great Mouse Plot” of 1924 chronicles his attempt to scare piers by adding a dead mouse to the communal jar of gobstoppers!
We are forever grateful of the opportunity to document the architecture of historic buildings. Laser Scanning captures the character of period buildings in high definition producing a library of 3D records for future generations.
